The Gay Sisters (1942)

Mother Gay was a praying woman with deep faith and strong conviction. She instilled the principles of holy living within each of her children and told them that if they served the Lord, "their gift would make room for them and bring them before great men". They would soon realize the power of that prophetic word.

Then developer Charles Barclay George Brent wants to buy their Fifth Avenue mansion, knock it down, and erect a skyscraper. A story of rich people fighting over money which starts slowly but gets a bit more interesting as it progresses. Fiona is Stanwyck's first projection of a type of woman that would appear frequently on the screen from now on: a dark, discontented one—the product of a changing world.
